Sometimes, for some unexplained reason, the log-in becomes disabled in IE6...I noticed this now, not only on my own site, but also on this very SEO-BOARD forum.  As an example, just this a.m. it wouldn't let me log-in, so I tried registering as another "new" user (fiddler2).  It accepted my new user info, and said I could log-in, but when I tried, I was "bounced back" to the regular page and was not acknowledged as being logged in.  I couldn't even post this message until I switched browsers and everything went to working correctly again (and I was immediately acknowledged as fiddler).  It seems when I use FireFox or Netscape 7, the log-in problem "disappears".

For my own web site, when I use IE6, this happens with general user names, as well as administration... the login shows, but when the user name and password are entered, the page reverts right back to the same page - as if no attempt to log-in has been made.    I have noticed this problem occurring on several different computers (all Windows machines).  I have not encounted this problem in any other browser but IE6 (although I do not have different versions of IE readily available, either).  I believe this is a bug in IE6 - is there a fix, or could this be something else entirely?

I use IE6 and don't have this problem. It may be an IE issue with cookies. What IE version, Service Pack do you run?

Yes, I believe you are right on the cookies with IE 6 - I think I have Service Pack 2 (with XP Pro installed).  My problem is - I have about 400 members that will be utilizing this, and aside from directing them to use Netscape 7 or FireFox, is there anything I can do to help remedy the situation?  Thanks for the quick respond, btw.

fiddler,
I can't offer any workaround on this one. I don't know how to reproduce the problem in order to try sth as a workaround. You may try digging up some IE cookie/PHP issues. I use IE6 SP2 and have no problem. I've logged many times on my local comp and on 2 seo-board forums. It is strange that you are the only one that has reported this behavior as of today.
Dragthor, if you are reading this, since you have the largest seo-board community, do any of your users experience this problem?

Spyware / browser hijack issue. This will produce this type of behavior.

Flush caches, histories, temps. Then with aresenal of anti-spyware utils, clean house.

(user beware, as some antispy apps are not what they seem to be)
