does anyone have any comments on Vbulletin versus SEO-board ?

I have about 5 or 6 sites and for the life of me cannot decide whether I should use SEO board, or buy Vbulletin..

I like SEO board very much, I like how it is fast, smooth and has no bullshit or excess FAT.

But I wonder, for a long term forum, is SEO board going to be ok for me?

for example, what if a site becomes very popular with 40,000 members and heavy traffic etc., are there any issues I would need to worry about in such a situation?

or is SEO-board up to the task no matter what?

well, I am unable to give you a true comparison between the two boards

but, I can give you a fairly accurate overview

[1]
both boards are php + mysql driven
and will be dependent on server capability for managing load

[2]
bloat generally incorporates longer wait times for loading

[3]
more "eye-candi" is directly relational to bloat

[4]
both boards are somewhat customizable;

I personally appreciate the ability to limit what is displayed per screen. As this positively affects load time. And favors user satisfaction (even though more fetches to dbs may be incurred)

[5]
bandwidth usage is something we $pay$ for; (heavy use of images increases bandwidth consumption -- especially on a well traffic'd board)

I favor quick loading, visual smoothness in loading, and the very features that SEO provides.

A quality server to deliver this medium is a good thing. And certainly required with a board that is bloated, and heavy on resources.

An aside:
while visual customization for SEO requires some effort (not that much), it is only a small leap to port the css features over to a plug-in driven feature. And a reservoir of ready-made plug-ins can be made available to SEO user base. While maintaining no hit on the performance of the board, at all.
