Hi, Hristo.

I like the fact that SEO-Board creates pages in HTML format.

One suggested feature is to set it up so the directory and individual web page names can be specified by the admin, so as to be keyword rich, instead of just assigned a sequentional number by default.

For example, the page I'm on now is named 'forum3.htm', but for better SEO and Adsense matching, it would be better if I could specify the name. For example, it could be named 'SEO-Board.htm' instead.

If this feature is available and I've overlooked it, please let me know.

This is doable but I don't think the file names will make any measurable difference SEO-wise.

Some have found that adsense targeting is better when the directory or web page name is related to the content.

I could be mistaken but I thought directory and page names were also a factor in SEO.

I also wondered about this.

All I know is that on my wordpress BLOG I used descriptive URL structure, for example:

www.myblog.com/2005/6/10/fuel-cell-cars-ready-for-production

and I have seen many search engines find this posting based mostly on the url keywords. Google has found many of my pages based solely on the url keywords and even ranked me very highly based on it..

so if someone searched for 'fuel cell production' they would find my link in google.

So I don't know if the same thing would happen with seo-board since this is a forum and not a blog.. but maybe it is worth an experiment... try it out and then examine your referral statistics and see what people were searching for (keywords) and if they were in the urls..

These urls will help only if you link to them with anchor text equal to the file name.

Here's an interesting article where someone actually tested whether keywords in the URL have any affect on ranking, and their results indicated that they do. For Google, MSN, Yahoo, etc.:

An interesting side note is that hyphens tend to work better then underscores, as keyword separators.

Here's another article suggesting that keywords in the URL are the 2nd most important ranking criteria in Google, based on actual tests:

These tests are meaningless. Sure, keywords in the URLs are given some tiny amount of value, but in the real world it does nothing spectacular to help in rankings. This "feature" will slow down the board and will have no real influence on the rankings. Trust me.
