yes,they are different.
traditional chinese is used in Taiwan,Hong Kong. simplified chinese is used in China. these two type of chinese have the same meaning but write in two type format.

| To clarify, traditional Chinese and simplified Chinese show differences in about 30% of the characters. For HTML, they use entirely different character encoding, unless one uses one of the bulky UTF (universal) encoding schemes. | ||
