Ok, I've been teaching myself how to make websites for about 5 years in my spare time.

I have recently been fortunate enough to be able to spend alot more time putting everything I have learned together and am learning along the way.

I am very proud of the results. I'm sorta coming out of hiding with this post. You see, I am am a member of several of the largest SEO and SEM communities as well as several webmaster forums. I have been building websites that can be tracked in the Internet Archive's Wayback Machine to 2001. But there were a few before that. I have been on the net since before there was such thing as a graphical world wide web browser. It was just white text on a black monitor. But in all that time, I have only once put a site I created up for review on any site. Until now!

Why here? Well, basically because I have a very good reason for coming here. I have to extend some well-deserved accolades for the creators of SEO-Board. I must tell you that over the years I have tried every single free forum software out there. And, until now, I've never been fully satisfied.

Here's the reason. As I mentioned above, I've been working on putting together what I've learned. So I made it my goal to create a complete website solution that I could use to make, well, hundreds of small content sites. A sort of "website-in-a-box". It includes a custom template and templating system, a custom content management system using PHP/MySQL that's as good as a blog, but without the hassle of dealing with comment spam. It also includes several packaged apps like Coppermine, greeting cards, etc. We're in the process of finishing up a static CMS and a few other features are in the works. It's as easy as setting the variables for each site and I can have the basic framework for a new site up and running within 1-2 hours, ready to start taking on and displaying content.

So what am I getting at? Well, what's missing from the above dribble? A forum software. As I said earlier, until now! I decided to take a stab in dark and look for a suitable forum software and I stumbled onto SEO-Board at Hotscripts. I yawned, unzipped it, set the variables in the options file, uploaded it and pointed my browser at the install file. Bam! Installed! Easy! Jeez!

I had to do the usercp.php<-->prefs.php renaming thing to get the Member Preferences to work, the problem located and resolved right here on this board. Without me even having to post!

The mod-rewrite setup went without a hitch and everthing seems to work fine so far.

Ok, here's where I tend to run into problems with other forums. Integrating them into my template. This was a very important issue to me because it had to be something that worked with my website package. It couldn't cause me to have to do rewrites to get it to work and it had to integrate with minimal effort. SEO-Board was a dream to work with!

Ok, I've rambled on long enough, but I am rarely this excited. As I said before, I've only put a site up for scrutiny once before. Because SEO-Board has so impressed me, I've decided to give you guys a look at what I've done with it.

Atlantean,
thank you for your kind words. There's a little glitch in your script. When I click the message there are 2 php notices at the bottom:
Quote:
Notice: Undefined variable: sitename in /home/rncurtis/public_html/texas-outdoors/botnav.php on line 1

and
Quote:
Notice: Undefined variable: sitename in /home/rncurtis/public_html/texas-outdoors/foot.php on line 9

Hope your users like the board.

Great job and great comments.  I'm not sure, but I'm pretty sure Hristo has been more or less a one-man show on the creation of this board.  With due respect to those that have added language packs!

I think everyone who uses this board owes Hristo some gratitude, I've always said its been great work.  I tried many other BBs before as well and none have been as simple and easy to deal with as SEO-Board.

Great Job.

p.s. Atlantean, your forum looks great!

Hristo, You're very welcome! Thanks for the heads-up on the missing variable...got it fixed.

I'll tell you, after all the wasted time I've spent trying to deal with other forums software, it's refreshing to discover one that is so simple and easy to integrate.

I have added SEO-Board to my personal "website-in-a-box" package where it takes it's permanent place as the official discussion software solution.

It is very nice software. Just needs a topic reply notification feature

MrLen,

Until you spammed my last forum post with your free web hosting I thought you were legit, but I seriously doubt your intentions on this site.  Your promoter*host site does not even use the far superior seoboard forum software.

Yeah that's a good idea. Hrists, you should add a topic / topic reply subscription feature. i wacked a topic notification feature on my x.modded.x version, it works well for publicity and that.
