hey dragthor,

If you are out there..

any feedback on how your forum is running with seo-board given its increasing size??

I am curious to know over time how seo-board handles itself once a forum becomes one of the 'big boys'

My forum is zinging fast.  Probably because of:

-  Hristo's coding
-  My hosting provider (GoDaddy)

I do pay GoDaddy a little extra each month for a dedicated IP.  Maybe its just my imagination... but the site appears to running faster with a GoDaddy dedicated IP...instead of a "shared" or "dynamic" IP.

Oh... the admin "Recount User Statistics" is the only slow part (usually times out).  If you look at the code... it loops through all of the users... and then individually totals up their stats.

Still... I love this forum.  Nice and fast and flexable (I added spell check, avatars, etc).

Drag, thanks for the heads up on this slow function. I will improve it. btw. I have found a bunch of things that can be sped up, and hope they will make up for the bloat of the next version.

Hi Hristo,

Could you give an estimate on when the next version will appear? Just a rough estimate would be ok, just so I know if I should install the current version or wait for the new one...

Thanks!

Merien,
every time I gave an estimate, I was wrong. Projects come up. I need to support a wife and a dog
I guess I will need a month or two of development time. This development time can be interrupted by other projects (end of this month I will also travel away from home for 2-3 weeks and won't be able to work on the script).

As a rule of thumb, don't count on the next version until it's out.

Hi Hristo,

Thanks for your reply. That's all I needed to know. Maybe it's an idea for you to take a look at www.phpizabi.com
They are developing a portal website which they are coding from the ground up. They came up with a good way of making some money. They made it possible for people to become an insider. An insider pays a minimum of USD $5,- and then they get a pre-release of the software. Lets say you would release the software to the general public on the first of july, the insiders get the software the 1st of june. A lot of people became insiders suddenly. Maybe this is an idea for you too. I think a lot of people are willing to pay and you make some extra bucks.

Hello Hristo,

Sorry to interrupt you again Could you maybe release an add-on for version 1.4 on short notice so a reply-email function when a reply on the topic is received is included and mass mailing function of the members is included. This add-on is then for sale for $25,- or $50,- thru a paypal/buynow function for the people that can't wait for version 1.5 / 2.0 (Me, and probably others .. )

Just an idea...

Kind regards,

Merien

merien,

go to rentacoder.com and find someone to do it for you. For $25-$50 you will find plenty of developers.
