I get this error every once in awhile. If I refresh the site it goes away. My main problem is that when the Google bots came across my site last they saw that error and dropped most of my main keyword positions. Does this error happen often? Is there a fix for it? I imagine that the bots will rescan my site and fix my rankings, but if they see this too often they might think my uptime is really low.

Error: Cannot connect to database

Do you have a lot of traffic? The error means php could not connect to mysql. Your hosting provider may have put some restrictions on your mysql usage.

I get about 200-300 uniques visitors per day and four times that many hits. I use godaddy.com's basic $3.99/mo hosting service. I haven't even used 1% of my bandwidth or storage space. Do you think they they would just limit mysql usage? By the way, thanks sooooo much for this forum. I don't care what anyone says, seo-board has performed way better than my vBulletin forum or phpBB.
my forum is at www.buellxb.com
Thanks

Your hosting provider may have temporary overloads and problem with the database. It is not seo-board's problem. All scripts use the same functions to connect to the mysql database and if that fails you'll receive that error. Ask your hosting support.

You were right Hristo. I checked with godaddy.com and they said they limit mysql to 50 simultaneous requests. I just upgraded the account from 50 to 150.
