I just launched http://www.incubusforum.com yesterday!  Its starting to take off a little bit, which is good.

Hopefully, it was be a decent website in 2 months, with a nice amount of traffic!

What do you think?

Nice look !
Dumb as I am, for a moment I tought it was an official Incubus message board.

Curious as I am, I went to the Incubus site to check and I found their message board.

I have to say that your forum looks much better then the official one.

Good job.

What a modest guy you are
Anyway, good job. How do you guys get your new forums off the ground so to speak?

With this particular one - http://www.incubusforum.com/article2.htm and a combination of Adwords and posting on other similar forums.

I haven't launched a forum in probably a year or so though, but each forum I launch is a different method of promotion.  I'm launching 2 more forums this month and I'll probably do similar launches to build traffic, as they're going to be "band" forums.

Another forum I launched, http://www.bulletproofglassforums.com did not take off that much, even though I didn't put that much effort into it, it was just another place to gather links.

On every launch though, I'll use PPC and possibly forum posting from someone like www.forumbooster.net to get the thing going.  Offering some sort of compensation is always a good idea to get the ball rolling.

Over at the Earner's Forum, we talk about all sorts of ways to get traffic to forums.  The guys there are 10x better than I at getting traffic to forums...they've been doing it for longer.

I've updated the site a little bit, adding Private Messaging and keyword-friendly URLs.  Site is doing pretty well right now.

I'll be putting together the changes I made and letting everyone download to add to their own forums.

Great new year gift for all SEO-Bord users.
The members on my forum keep asking for a private messaging system. They'll be very pleased
Thx again.

I also forgot to mention that posters also receive an email once a thread has been updated that they've contributed to.  It's a great way to remind visitors to come back and post.  Email looks like this:

Code:

Hello voasi,

You are receiving this email because a member has replied since your last visit.  You can use the following link to view the replies made:

Thanks Hristo. I haven't any complaints from people.  They like the PM system. I've got a section for people to add there 2 cents: http://www.incubusforum.com/forum/site-talk/17

No problem.  I'm having him wrap it all up in an easy way to implement so there's nothing messy, with documentation.  I'm not a programmer, but I can follow directions so I told him to lay it out that way.
