Hey Hristo,

I have over 1600 members on BuellXB.com. The forum load time seems to be really slow lately. I host through godaddy.com and I haven't even come close to bandwidth or storage limits. I also have a limit of 150 simultaneous MySQL database accesses. I optimized my header images as good as possible. Have you experienced anything like this? Is the forum getting so large with so many members that it's bogging things down?

It should be sth connected with your web host or code you have added/altered. The script is small and simple and should always run fast. Have you made any changes to the code?

I had two of my programmers make some changes. They added a feature to imbed images into posts with a place for the users to host images on the site. We also added custom SEF urls with htaccess.

I added Google adsense, but I recently removed that as well to try and speed things up.

Traffic through Google analytics is between 550 and 600 visitors per day from the dashboard. 50% are returning visitors.

Forum stats:
Forum has 1545 topics and 10452 replies for a total of 11997 posts.
There are 1628 registered members.

I have three PHP developers and one is pretty good with linux servers. I ran load time tests with tips for improvements, asked the lead programmer at SEOmoz.org and had the customer service at Godaddy.com give me tips. I passed all of this on to my programmers and no one seems to be able to do anything to speed it up.

Look at http://www.newjerseyhunter.com/
It is huge. It is a seo-board mod and it runs fast. I guess the problem is the mods you are doing or your hosting provider gives you limited resources.
The board is just too simple to be slow.

Hristo, don't get me wrong, I'm not attacking SEO-board. I'm sure it would run fine if it was left in its original sate. I just can't figure out what's causing the slow down. The mods were made several months ago and only lately has the forum been loading slow.

I have a premium hosting account at godaddy.com and I asked them if there were any upgrades I could take advantage of, they said I was well below the premium accounts limits and upgrading would make no difference.

The funny thing is that it seems to load faster in IE7 than it does in Firefox. Firefox did release several updates over the last few weeks which correlates to the slow down, but I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it, maybe it's just a coincidence.

Thanks for the responses and your help.

I have really no idea about it, but if I were you I would put code that tracks how much time it took to execute the script and if it is slow, then I will track parts of the code to identify the one that is problematic (calls to mysql? or sth else). If the script runs fast, then I would think it is the web host and I will clone the database to another host just to try to see how fast it will run. Just some ideas.
